Kents Hill & Monkston Parish Council Launches Community Survey

Kents Hill & Monkston Parish Council has launched a new parish-wide Community Survey and is inviting all residents to share their views on what matters most in our local area.

As part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to community wellbeing and effective local engagement, the survey explores how residents use local facilities, green spaces and community centres, and asks for feedback on future priorities, activities, and improvements that would benefit the parish. The consultation covers a wide range of themes, including community safety, local events, wellbeing initiatives, communications, and satisfaction with the appearance and maintenance of local neighbourhoods.

This survey comes at an important time for Kents Hill, Monkston and Monkston Park. With cost pressures, changing lifestyles and new opportunities for partnership working, it is vital that the Council plans responsibly for the years ahead. Residents’ feedback will help guide decisions around parish investment, projects, and services, ensuring they reflect real local insight and support vibrant, well-connected communities.

The Council particularly welcomes views on the future of Monkston Community Centre, which is expected to transfer to parish ownership soon, as well as ideas for community events, youth activities, older persons’ provision, and improvements to parks, play areas, and wellbeing opportunities.

Have Your Say

Your voice matters. The Council encourages every resident to take a few minutes to complete the survey and help shape the future of our parish together.

Public Statement: Personal Data Breach

Kents Hill & Monkston Parish Council is committed to protecting residents’ personal information and complying fully with its responsibilities under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The Council has identified that a personal data breach occurred as a direct result of the actions of Cllr Taimyr Boungou-Pouaty in connection with the administration of the Parish Council’s community fitness classes. This involved the unauthorised disclosure and retention of residents’ personal information outside of the Council’s approved systems and governance framework.

In line with its legal duties, the Council has reported the breach to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) within the statutory timescale and has notified affected residents where appropriate. The Council has also put in place measures to contain the breach, protect residents’ information, and prevent a recurrence, including:

  • Issuing formal instructions requiring the return and deletion of the data.
  • Referring the matter to the ICO for regulatory oversight.
  • Suspending access to council email accounts where necessary to protect data security.
  • Commissioning external legal and data protection advice.
  • Strengthening councillor training and governance procedures.

The Council emphasises that it, as the corporate body and lawful data controller, has not sanctioned or condoned these breaches and is taking robust action to ensure full compliance with data protection law and to uphold the trust of residents.

Residents who have concerns about how their data may have been affected are invited to contact the Clerk at clerk@khm-pc.gov.uk

Community Planting Project – Help Us Choose Locations for Bulbs and Wildflowers

Kents Hill & Monkston Parish Council is excited to launch a new initiative aimed at brightening up our green spaces and supporting local biodiversity through the planting of spring bulbs and wildflowers across the parish.

As part of this project, the Council is inviting residents and community groups to suggest locations where planting could take place. The aim is to create a schedule of sites where carefully chosen flower species can flourish and bring joy to the community for years to come.

We want to hear from you!

Do you know of a grass verge, a neglected patch of land, or a green space that could benefit from a splash of colour? If so, we’d love your input.

How to submit your suggestion:

Please contact us with the following information:

  • A description of the proposed location (including postcode, street name, or what3words if possible).
  • Why you think the site is suitable for planting.
  • Any relevant local knowledge (e.g. current use of the land or ownership, if known).

Email: admin@khm-pc.gov.uk
Deadline for submissions: Friday 1 August 2025

Once suggestions are received, the Council will:

  • Review and map all proposed locations.
  • Seek permission from the relevant landowners (e.g. Milton Keynes City Council, The Parks Trust).
  • Obtain quotations for planting work to take place during the next suitable planting season.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in shaping your local environment. Whether it’s cheerful daffodils in spring or summer meadows buzzing with bees, we hope to create vibrant, welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy.
